GPT question “How does gpt know the contextual meaning of word sentences”
GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) knows the contextual meaning of word sentences by using a technique called in-context learning. In-context learning allows GPT to learn new tasks from a few examples, without having to be explicitly trained on those tasks.
To do this, GPT first embeds each word in a sentence into a numerical vector. These vectors represent the meaning of the words, as well as their context in the sentence. For example, the word “dog” might have a different embedding in the sentence “The dog ran away” than it does in the sentence “I love dogs.”
GPT then combines the embeddings of the words in a sentence to create a representation of the entire sentence. This representation captures the meaning of the sentence, as well as the relationships between the words in the sentence.
Finally, GPT compares this representation to the known meaning of the sentence. If the representation is similar to the known meaning, then GPT has learned the contextual meaning of the sentence.
In-context learning allows GPT to learn new tasks very quickly. For example, if GPT is given a few examples of how to translate English to French, it can learn to translate English to French without having to be explicitly trained on every possible English-French translation pair.
This makes GPT a very powerful language model that can be used for a variety of tasks, such as text generation, translation, and question answering.
